Cheesy Crackers (aka those fish crackers)

Ever had those little fish crackers from the USA?  Pretty tasty!  (with a dash of artificial colours and who knows what is in there!)

Here is a recipe for crackers that taste EXACTLY the same but only 3 ingredients (just be careful which cheese you are buying)

1 c. Whole Wheat Flour

5 Tbsp Cold Butter

1 1/2 c Cheese (I used 1/2 parmesan & 1 c. cheddar)

Put in a food processor and blitz until a round ball (you might have to add a bit of cold water to bring it all together). Or you can mix it all by hand.

Roll out about 5mm thick.  Cut out some shapes that the kids like or cut into squares.

Bake at 180 degs for 10-12 mins, depending how thick your crackers are!

They do puff up a bit so keep that in mind while you are rolling out the dough.

This recipe is super easy and quick.  Great for the kids’ morning tea with a piece of fruit.

  1. Nadia – I love the store bought fishy crackers b/c the kids love to eat them. But tonight (BEFORE reading your blog) I helped myself to a big handful and a few minutes later needed water, and then more water… and wondered, “What is IN these things?!” And now here you are talking about food processing my own real food… Hmmm. Would love to do that, but I don’t believe in having appliances that can’t toast bread. Any alternatives? – Thanks for a beautiful blog! – Dayna

  2. HI Dayna! You can mix it all by hand. I actually end up doing that in the end just to get it to the right consistancy and you can actually ‘feel’ when it’s all mixed together.
